The glaciers, waterfalls and peaks of Yoho Park are revealed on this morning’s visit to Yoho National Park. Your journey includes photo opportunities at Emerald Lake and Takakkaw Falls before taking the Icefields Parkway, one of the most beautiful drives on the planet. Admire the dramatic scenery of the Rockies with plenty of photo opportunities. A warm welcome greets you at the country’s first and only glacier-view resort over a Champagne reception and nibbles. Before dinner, take advantage of the long daylight hours and set out for an after-hours visit to the Columbia Icefield Skywalk, a glass-floored walkway above the Sunwapta Valley featuring waterfalls and wildlife. After your Skywalk visit, indulge in a delicious, Canadian inspired, locally sourced dinner, sip cocktails and marvel at the spectacular glacier views that wrap the restaurant.

Evening Reception at the Glacier View Lodge. After dinner, step out onto the viewing deck and stargaze as you marvel at the dark night sky, relax with a drink in the library or hang out inside the Moraine Lounge with games and live entertainment.

Before other travellers arrive, venture onto the Athabasca Glacier in a massive Ice Explorer for your special, before-hours visit. Join your Local Expert and walk on the frozen flow of ice. Discover the beauty and immensity of the glacier as you learn about the history and geology of the region. Continue along the magnificent Icefields Parkway and arrive at Jasper National Park with its soothing mineral hot springs, colourful meadows and majestic mountains.

Take a seat in a specially designed Ice Explorer for a visit onto the Athabasca Glacier before other travellers arrive. Follow your Local Expert as you stroll on its icy surface and experience the enormous glaciers up close.
Visit Athabasca Glacier Before-Hours

Board the Rocky Mountaineer train at the Jasper Station at 8:10am MT. Today you will travel from Jasper in the Canadian Rockies to Kamloops, located in the heart of the British Columbia Interior. As you journey west and south you will be surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Continental Divide and by the river valleys of the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains. Today’s highlights include Mount Robson, Pyramid Falls, the climb over Yellowhead Pass, and the journey along the North Thompson River as you approach Kamloops. You will arrive in Kamloops between 5:30pm and 7:00pm PT. Spend the evening exploring the town, or relaxing in your hotel.

Your journey continues west towards the Pacific Ocean and the coastal city of Vancouver. On today’s journey you will again see dramatic changes in scenery, from the desert-like environment of the Interior, through winding river canyons and pristine forests, to the Coast and Cascade Mountains and the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley. Highlights include the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon. Your rail journey ends on arrival in Vancouver this evening.

After breakfast, you are transferred to Airport where your journey comes to an end. Arrival time at airport is approximately 12:00.

Day 6, 7, And 8 for Those Travelers that Prefer Not to Ride The Rocky Mountainner from Jasper to Vancouver

We are also offering an alternative option for those travelers who prefer to take the land tour but not to take the Rocky Mountaineer scenic train ride to Vancouver

Enjoy a relaxed start this morning or join the fun and experience an optional easy rafting, scenic float trip down the Athabasca River, a designated Canadian Heritage River. A National Park licensed guide will provide commentary on the human and natural history of Jasper while navigating you along the same route used by the “fur traders” over 2 centuries ago. Don’t worry the guides do all the rowing; you sit back and enjoy while exploring all the spectacular scenery. There is always a chance of seeing various wildlife including elk, deer, moose, coyotes, wolves, eagles, ospreys, mountain sheep and bears. Join your Travel Director on an informative walk on the Maligne Canyon, the deepest gorge in Jasper National Park. As you tour across the crystal waters of magical Maligne Lake, fed by the glaciers of Jasper National Park and glide past the jagged mountain peaks you’ll discover why it’s been declared the “Best Boat Cruise in Canada.”

Join the fun and experience an easy rafting / scenic float trip down the Athabasca River, a designated Canadian Heritage River. A National Park licensed guide will provide commentary on the human and natural history of Jasper while navigating you along the same route used by the “fur traders” over 2 centuries ago. Lifejackets and the specially designed, 7 meter / 25 foot long oar powered rafts o􀃭er a safe and comfortable ride through several small, easy sets of rapids and calm stretches that any 􀃮rst time rafter will enjoy. Don’t worry, the guides do all the rowing; you sit back and enjoy while exploring all the spectacular scenery drifting down a route that was used by fur traders many years ago. There is always a chance of seeing various wildlife including elk, deer, moose, coyotes, wolves, eagles, ospreys, mountain sheep and bears. Tours will operate rain or shine, and a poncho will be provided when required.

Your trip begins in Banff. 3 nights in Banff at the Fairmont Banff Springs before traveling by motor coach on the Icefields Parkway toward Jasper. One night at the Glacier View Hotel before visiting Athabasca Glacier in a massive Ice Explorer. An additional night in Jasper before heading out the next morning on the Rocky Mountaineer. The Rocky Mountaineer travels west all day with spectacular scenery stopping in Kamloops overnight. The next morning you continue the train to Vancouver. Hotel overnight in Vancouver before transferring to the airport.

Alternative Trip Option: For travelers who prefer to take the land tour portion of the trip only and not take the scenic Rocky Mountaineer train to Vancouver, can reserve just the land portion. Trip Pricing WITHOUT the train begins at $4,250 per person double occupancy.

Pricing Note: For both trip options – airfare is not included. It is possible that group air can be arranged once we know the number of travelers and the cities they are flying from. For the option with the train ride, travelers, if flying, would fly to Calgary to start their trip in Banff and then depart after the trip in Vancouver. If travelers select the alternative itinerary, they will fly to and from the Calgary airport.

Transfers at the end of the trip to the airport are included in the prices shown for both itineraries. The pre-trip transfers from Calgary to Banff are not included in the price shown at this time. Once the number of travelers is known, the transfer and cost will be offered as optional to travelers. If group air is offered, the transfer would be included.
